Besides Visa, MasterCard is one of the largest payment methods for South Africans and you will be hard pressed to find a South African casino that doesn’t accept this form of payment. This means that as far as making real money deposits, you will probably find that there are no restrictions when it comes to using it.

In order to use your MasterCard to pay, you will need to register for a real money account. Once you have done so and you’re ready to make a deposit, visit the cashier section of the casino. Click the deposit button and then enter your personal information. You will be asked to choose a payment method and it is here that you should enter your MasterCard information, including your card’s number, the expiry date and the CVV number, which is comprised of the last three numbers on the back of the card. Some casinos may take the payment as is, and you will see this reflected on your card statement, but others may need you to create and access a 3D Secure profile in order to proceed. This profile is an extra security measure that allows the bank to verify that you card is not being used fraudulently. Be sure to fill in all of the information to proceed.

There are many casinos that offer their wares to South Africans, even though legally they are not supposed to, and using your MasterCard when you want to make a payment is a very helpful tool to start playing. However, when you use this payment method at any place other than a casino accepting rand (ZAR), you may notice that are not only are you charged a fee by the casino to convert the funds into dollars, euro or pounds, but your bank charges you again for that conversion. When making a deposit, be sure to keep an eye on whether the casino is South African. If you’re not sure, consult our list of Top South African online casinos.

Remember too when using your card to pay at an online casino that if you are not using a “legal” SA casino and your bank notices this on your account, they have the right to decline the transaction, which could give you a bad name at the casino.

Did you know that some casinos offer special deposits to players using a MasterCard to pay? As this is an easy and immediate form of payment, many South African casinos prefer for players to use it, and will offer special bonuses to those players, especially depending on how much they are depositing. This is usually given when you make your first real money deposit and this welcome bonus can consist of a match of 100% on what you deposited.

It is very important that if you are offered a bonus for using a particular payment method that you take the time to read the wagering requirements. The terms of using a bonus given on a first deposit may be quite stringent, but if you know the rules, it’s easier to follow them. Be aware too that once you have been given a bonus, you will not be able to just withdraw it. You will need to follow the casino’s wagering requirements.

If you strike it lucky at the casino and you are ready to make a withdrawal, you should know that most casinos will not pay the money into your MasterCard. This is a Mastercard policy world-wide. This means that you will need to provide the bank with your South African banking account information and a copy of your ID to make a legitimate withdrawal. If you are using a credit card and hoping for the money to be refunded into this account as quickly as you paid it out, you will be out of luck, so be sure you have sufficient funds to pay and play with your MasterCard, without impacting your daily life.
